Sam is a Farm Bureau agent in Brookhaven, Mississippi. And like most of our agents, he spends a fair amount of time consulting with his clients throughout the holidays, into the New Year.
“I try to do my insurance reviews annually,” he says, “from single vehicle policies to homeowners all the way up to entire farm operations.”
What Is An Insurance Review?
Insurance policies are something most of us like to “set and forget.” We tuck them away and then dutifully pay the premiums. But time flies and things change. So, it’s a good thing to look over your policies from time to time to make sure the details are still relevant. At Farm Bureau, we call this process an insurance review.
Why Conduct An Insurance Review?
“My experience over the last 11-12 years has shown that when a client does a thorough review of their insurance policies, they feel much more secure with their policy choices,” says Sam Sones. “They also feel more empowered, knowing they’re saving as much money as they can on the coverage they need.”
But saving money isn’t the only reason to review your insurance. You may have new assets that you need to take into account. New additions to the family may need to be added to policies. Has your income-to-debt ratio changed substantially? Your agent can tell you how such things affect your need for insurance.
For life insurance, it’s important to be sure that you have enough coverage to protect your loved ones if that worse-case scenario actually happens. Not all types of life insurance are redeemable only upon the policy-holder’s death. “It’s a very personal process,” Sam says of insurance reviews. “At Farm Bureau, we still embrace the “traditional,” face-to-face way of doing things.
I think doing business this way sets us apart from other insurance companies. Some companies have moved to a more technology-driven, less personal way of doing things.”
That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with using technology. Farm Bureau uses a lot of it to stay organized, provide you with faster service, and to improve convenience
